Week 49 Summary
It was a pretty normal week as far as Luxembourg goes.
At work, we had a pretty successful tradeshow. We got about 45 leads which was close to the number of leads that we got at the big Fund Forum event. This is a much smaller show, so we felt good about the number of leads.
The weather has turned much colder again and foggy. It feels much like the first time I visited Luxembourg just about a year ago. A lot has happened since that time… Phew!
As this week was Thanksgiving back home, we had a couple dinners. The first turned into a work party. We had turkey, stuffing and mashed potatoes at the Gilstrap’s apartment. It was nice and reminded everyone of home. The kids and I rushed over to mutual where everyone brought a food dish from their country.
We had everything from Portuguese pastries, Tahitian dessert, African chicken, pumpkin cake, Spanish bread, etc. It was super fun to see what everyone brought. We couldn’t think of anything American, so we Emilee did her famous Apple Crisp. It was a hit! Meeting all of the different people from different cultures has definitely been one of the most positive aspects of our experience here. I think the kids will definitely miss their friends they’ve made over here.
Afterwards we played another Gilstrap game where if you say the answer that a person is thinking you get a cup of water in the face. I was glad I was on the periphery as many people got very wet.
On Friday we packed up the car for what we think is our last trip over here. We drove to Frankfurt to see Kim’s parents. We stayed in the temple hostel for 30 euros, which was great! We were the only family there, so it made it very easy. Kim and I attended a session in the temple on Saturday morning and then went to Kim’s parents. They have about 18 months left on their mission!
We had a good visit with them and then went to the Berliner restaurant near their home for the second Thanksgiving feast. It was a very nice, very German local restaurant. We all had some sort of Schnitzel. The kid’s was pork and the rest of ours was a Chicken Cordon Blue. It was very good and fun to spend time with the Saunders. The owner was very nice and kept bringing out little surprises for the kids. Ashton loved the bouncy ball!
We had an uneventful, but fast drive home on the Autobahn. It still blows me away to be going 100 mph and have someone pass you up like you’re standing still. Very cool.
At church we ordained Jacob to the office of teacher in the Aaronic Priesthood. Pretty incredible that he’s now 14. Time sure is flying by…
After church, Ashton had a birthday party for Felix and Dante. They had it at a huge indoor playground structure. It was total chaos, but the kids had a great time!
Only two more blogs left!!!!
What an adventure you have all had this past year! It has been a joy reading your exploits from time-to-time. I hope you have a safe journey home and we look forward to seeing you. Best wishes.
