Week 32 - Luxembourg with Tori!

On Monday we decided to go to the Beaufort Castle and go hiking in the Little Switzerland region.  The Beaufort castle was in ruins but has been restored.  The lady selling the tickets only spoke French, so Jacob stepped right up and translated for us.  He figured out that there are two parts of the castle, and one of the parts is furnished and needed a guided tour.  But the tour was only in French, so we decided to just do the ruins part of the castle.

The castle was really cool.  We all enjoyed it very much, even Ashton.  Even though it was in ruins, we could still tell where each room would be.  We had a paper that told us what each room was and the history behind it.  This castle was different because it was in ruins, but it was still fascinating.

After the castle we ate baguette sandwiches and headed off to the Mullerthal region to go hiking.  We hiked to some man made caves then hiked through gorgeous moss covered trees and rocks.  We got to this one section that was pretty crazy.  There were these small steep steps carved into stone. But we all got down safely and enjoyed the beautiful hike.  At one point, Ashton stepped in stinging nettle and shed some tears.  But he was okay after Spencer washed it off in the river and we picked some wild raspberries.

After the hike, we headed over to the barefoot trail, and the awesome park next to it. Tori and I walked on the barefoot trail, then we joined everybody else at the park.  We loved playing on the zipline and we had contests to see who could go the farthest.  Tori agrees with us that the parks here are awesome!

After the park we headed home, ate baguette pizza, and then we rode the bus into the city to the open air cinema.  They set up chairs by the Grand Dukes palace and had a blow up screen.  We got gelato before the movie started and met up with Alienor, Guillaume, and Sabrina (from our ward).  We watched the movie The Man Who Knew Too Much.  In the beginning of the movie I couldn't hear, so I leaned over to Tori and whispered, "I can't hear".  Then this grumpy old man leaned over to us and said very loudly, "I am trying to watch a movie, will you stop talking....PLEASE!" So we switched over to sign language to communicate. We got rained on, but they had handed out free ponchos.  It ended at 11:40, and the last bus was at 11:55 and sometimes comes early, so we booked it across the slippery city.  We ran so fast that we got to the bus station 10 minutes early, and the bus came 3 minutes late, so we were able to get home with no trouble.

Today Spencer, Tori, and I rode the bus to the center and met up with Alienor.  We took Tori to the chocolate house.  Spencer got strawberry, Tori got salted carmel, and I got Almond Raspberry. We met up with my dad for lunch and got sandwiches, pastries, and gelato.  We were stuffed!

We took a bus to the Gare, and took some pictures at the train station.  Afterwards, we walked down to the Grunde and found a little train that we were able to ride for free.  It was a cute little ride, and we will have to take Ashton there.

There was a exercise park, so we played there for awhile.  Our favorite was the elliptical and a contraption that spins.

Then we walked back and saw Captain Moroni's Wife and we went into Notre Dame.  We walked down to the pirate ship park and swung on the tire swings until the bus came.

When we got home we went to the Kehlen soccer field and played soccer. We played barefoot and had a great time!
