Week 46 Summary – Rest week!

This week was pretty normal as far as our experience in Luxembourg goes.  Work is progressing, but slower than we would like on the sales side.  It always takes longer than you would hope, but we’re still moving forward.

The weather was cold and rainy, which is better than hot and stuffy!

We got some good news on the car.  The sunscreen handprint turned out to be a free fix.  They basically buffed it out.  So now the trick becomes how do I sell our car?  I’ll probably end up getting a rental car if it sells before we leave.  Not sure how that is all going to turn out.  Hopefully I’ll be able to sell it without much hassle.

For mutual this week, we taught the kids how to fix flats on a bike tire.  I was amazed that for most of the kids this was their first time!  So it ended up being a good activity and we ended up with 3 fixed flats!  Win-win!

After mutual we ended up waiting an hour for the bus as we just missed it. After 8 the buses only run every hour, so we were a little chilled by the time the bus came at 8:55.  To keep warm the kids were goofing around and Emilee almost missed the bus!

We decided to take a weekend off from traveling, so Saturday morning we went and played soccer with the Elders at ISL.  One elder is from Texas and the other was from right down the street in American Fork.  We’ve missed playing soccer due to all of the weekend trips so it was fun, but we’re all sore and out of shape!

When we got home, we fixed some things around the house, gave the boys some haircuts, washed the car and bought a used stroller at a store called Troc.  It is just a cheap stroller for Ashton to survive the Louvre this next weekend.  We’re going to keep him busy like we did at Dachau.  An iPad, some new movies, a place to sit in the stroller and we should be good for 3-4 hours of museums!

After church today, we headed over to our landlords, the Beddalls.  They are a great family of 4 from Paris, UK and now Luxembourg.  They also are hosting a young women from Austria named Anna that used to be their opere. (nanny ) They prepared a wonderful lasagna meal and we talked for about 4 hours.  They wanted us to bring something American, so we brought over vanilla ice cream and Apple crisp that Emilee cooked using apples from their tree.  It was a hit!

We ended up giving James Beddall the whiskey that we won at the Cahoon games in Scotland.  Turns out that was one of his favorites, so we’re glad he’ll get to enjoy it.  It would have gone to waste at our house!

We got a tour of their side of the barn and it was impressive!  They turned this old Luxembourgish farmhouse into a really cool modern home.  It was very spacious and integrated the old with new very well.  Most of the doors were originally and barely shut, but they sure looked cool!

The kids were impressed to find out that Emma Watson wanted to rent the barn for 3 months.  She was filming a new film here in Kehlen and needed a place to stay.  If we had known I’m sure Emilee would have shared her bedroom!  The kids have been on a Harry Potter trip since our trip to the UK, so it was cool to think that Hermoine could have stayed in the barn.

Jacob got some good cubing practice in front of people at the dinner.  He started off at 24 seconds but quickly got more comfortable and got a 14 second solve.  Everyone was very impressed and took videos of him!

Super hard to believe we’re 5 weeks out from coming home.  We’re all trunky and now counting the days with Spencer.  We’re excited to see the Christmas markets, Paris one more time, Jacob’s cubing competition and the Saunders in Frankfurt for Thanksgiving.  After all that, a couple weekends and we’ll be home!

Not much in terms of pictures this week, but here’s the link.

Until next week…
