Today Spencer, Jacob, and I went to the cooking class. It was our last lesson. We were hoping it would be the best meal yet, but unfortunately it was seafood. We don't like seafood.
I was debating whether or not to go because my cochlear implant came, and I was really sensitive to sound. Everything is really loud and I still have the ringing in my head. My volume is usually at a 10, but I had to take it all the way down to 1 because it was so loud. It will take a couple of days for my brain to get used to sound. I decided to go to the cooking class because it was our last lesson.
As soon as we walked in Spencer noticed that it smelled like seafood. We soon found out that we were having shrimp and salmon. For the appetizer we chopped up shrimp into tiny pieces and mixed it with ketchup, mayonnaise, and avocado. It didn't look very appetizing. We put the shrimp into the empty nut hole in the avocado. The chef is all about look. He likes to make all of the dishes look fancy. We all tried it, but didn't like it, so we gave it to some other kids.
For our main course we had salmon. We chopped it up into pieces and cooked it on the stove. Then we cooked some noodles. Then all of us kids went to play foosball while the chef finished cooking. He made a sauce and mixed it with the salmon. We all tried it, and we thought it was okay. It wasn't our favorite. I think I would of liked it more if I wasn't sick to my stomach from the smell.
For dessert we made Lost Bread. It is like french toast. We mixed milk, sugar, eggs, and vanilla together. Then we dipped day old bread into the mixture. Then we toasted it in the oven. We served it with ice cream.
It is so funny to hear the french kids and chef talk in English. They asked us how to say cutting board. They thought the word "board" was so weird. They kept saying it really funny. Then Julian asked me why I didn't like Coca Cola. I told him it was because of the carbonation. He loved that word. He kept saying for the rest of the night. Very funny! It is really funny to hear them talk in English. They always make fun of English by repeating everything we say that they think is funny.
Because they don't have screens in front of their windows there were flies everywhere! Spencer and Julian decided to get towels and try to swat the flies. They were very successful. Then it turned into hitting the rest of us.
We had so much fun with this cooking class, and are sad that it is over.
