Week 4 - Movie Theater

On Saturday night Spencer, Jacob and I went to McDonalds to eat and went to a movie with some youth in the ward.  It was fun to get to know some of the youth in our ward a little better.  We had a great time.

Before the movie we ate at McDonalds.  It was crazy expensive!  A Big Mac cost about 7 euros!  We all got the cheapest thing which were chicken tenders which were around 3 euros.  The dinner cost about 14 euros and we didn't even get fries.  We only got chicken tenders.  I was really thirsty so I bought a tiny water for 3 euros.  EXPENSIVE!  We now know to bring your own water wherever you go!

After dinner we went to see the movie The Secret life of Walter Mitty.  The movie theater was REALLY nice!  We bought our tickets which totaled to 21 euros and went upstairs.  When we got upstairs we gave our tickets to a lady and she let us into the snack bar.  But this snack bar isn't like home.  It is like a mini store.  They had a wall full of popcorn that was already in the buckets.  All you had to do was pick what size you wanted.  They had every snack, candy, and drink possible.  The Gilstraps bought a popcorn and shared it with everybody.  Spencer bought a water that was a normal sized water for 2 euros.  I should of waited to get my water, but I didn't know they had water upstairs!  After we chose the popcorn and water we went to the cashier and paid.  Then we went to the theater.

The theater was the nicest theater I have ever been to.  The seats were red velvet and wide.  The armrests were doubled so each person could have their own armrest.  It was so comfy!

We got to the theater before the other youth got there, so we saved them some seats.  When they came we realized we didn't save enough seats, so we had to sit in the VERY FRONT row.  But that was okay because the first row was farther back.  It was a really good seat, because we didn't have to look up and hurt our necks.

The movie was in English and had German and French subtitles.  I was hoping they would have English close captions so I could understand better, but they didn't.  I am in such a habit to look at the subtitles so I kept looking at the French and German subtitles.  I couldn't help it!  So I read French and German subtitles throughout the movie!  

We all enjoyed the movie and had a great time.  We all tried to be careful not to spend a lot of money.  But it still ended up being expensive.  Everything here is expensive.
